Life can be overwhelming at times—I get it! But what do you do when there are so many things vying for your attention? When the kids are calling your name? When your spouse needs your attention? When there’s a ton of chores to be completed? When your workload is steady piling? When you have a situation that has taken your peace and caused you to go into a state of constant worry? What do you do when everything seems to be caving in on you all at once? Do you run to social media? Do you raise your fist at God and question His presence in the midst of your current situation?
In those times when you feel so overwhelmed, I encourage you to position yourself at the feet of Jesus. In His presence you will find everything you need. We can become so consumed by what’s going on around us that we forget that as sons and daughters of God, we can find rest and peace and joy in the presence of our Heavenly Father. We just have to make the time to get before Him.
Mary knew the importance of doing so. While Jesus was visiting, Mary took the time to sit at Jesus’ feet while her sister, Martha, succumbed to the acts of service.
Today, spend some time with Jesus. Commune with Him throughout the day. Let Him know what’s on your heart and mind. Seek His guidance and receive by faith what you’re in need of! He’s waiting!
“And she [Martha] had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” —Luke 10:39-42 KJV
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” —Psalm 16:11 KJV
