The Rebirth

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

People along the streets were fascinated by the news that was circulating in the National Newspaper titled “The Good News.” There was an article that made the front page and it had people in a state of bewilderment.

“How is this possible? I don’t believe that to be true. How can someone be born again and experience this so called abundant life. Sounds too good to be true if you ask me!”

“It’s all a bunch of wish-wash. I don’t believe any of it.”

The Author looked out upon the crowd and was grieved that so many rejected his story and did not believe what he wrote. He wondered how so many lacked faith and were persuaded that such a life was impossible. They were all merely existing and had no idea of what it was like to actually live. It was his job to spread the news in every way possible so that they, too, could experience this life he often wrote about in “The Good News”.

Have you questioned if someone could be born again and walk in a new identity and life—a life in accordance with God’s will for us?

Maybe you’ve heard of a Pharisee named Nicodemus. Pharisees were known for their knowledge and self-righteousness. They were able to give knowledge but did not necessarily walk in TRUTH. They were what many would call hypocrites.

What’s unique about this man Nicodemus is that although he was a learned teacher, he sought Jesus for answers.

“No matter how intelligent and well educated you are, you must come to Jesus with an open heart and mind so that He can teach you the truth about God.” —Life Application Study Bible, p. 1755.

But Jesus told him “unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). This seemed like nonsense and straight out impossible. And what Jesus meant by being born again is explained in the verses that follow:

“Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’” —John 3:4-7 NKJV

I would like to share my new birth experience:

After allowing rejection to lie to me over and over, I had times where I thought I just wasn’t good enough for anyone. I started acting out as a way to overshadow the rejection. I became a liar and fornicator amongst many other things as a way to “show” people who I was. I made so many mistakes and I did not realize the state my life was in.

God’s word will help us identify with what’s on the inside of us and sometimes it may not be what we want to see or believe. That’s why we have to examine ourselves and not think we’re immune to sin. Pride can rise up at any moment if we’re not careful.

Sin has a way of appeasing the flesh and killing the soul at the same time. In our minds we may think that how we live and act is totally fine but according to God’s word and standards it’s not. “I was a WHOLE mess out there in those streets” before I came to Christ. My desire is to please God and follow after His heart. And that requires dying to self by laying down one’s own life and agenda and getting into sync with God and His will. And we MUST repent.

So the GOOD NEWS today is that you can experience that abundant life that is spoken of in John 10. It first takes acknowledging your sins, repenting and walking out your salvation. “Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” —John 14:6

Feel free to share the Good News with someone else on today!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” —II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
“if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” —Ephesians 4:21-24
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” —I John 5:4
